GPU Price Index

A monthly record of what desktop graphics cards actually sell for against their launch MSRP, measured across major U.S. retailers. Each edition is a dated snapshot. This page keeps every edition, the method behind them and the month-by-month series in one place.

Data last updated . Latest edition: August 2026, prices checked August 5 to 20, 2026. These are recorded figures, not live quotes; confirm the current price on each GPU page or at the retailer.

The editions did not all measure the same group of cards, so the readings are kept apart rather than drawn as one line. May and June covered the full tracked catalog. July introduced the 17-card priority panel and still reported the catalog. August reported the priority panel and the 27 cards re-checked that month, and on purpose published no catalog figure (see the method below). Compare a reading only with the same panel in another month: the jump between June's catalog average and July's priority-panel average is a change of panel, not a market move.

n/a means that edition printed no figure for the card: May and June reported a selection of cards, not the full panel, which was introduced in July. Figures are shown at the precision each edition published (whole percent in May and June, one decimal from July). May and June listed an RX 9060 XT against a $299 MSRP; from July the index tracks the 16GB card against $349, so those two early readings are not joined to this row. June's RTX 5060 Ti was measured against the $429 16GB MSRP and is shown here.

Methodology

What is measured. For each card, the lowest eligible in-stock price across tracked U.S. retailers, compared with the manufacturer's launch MSRP and expressed as a percentage above (+) or below (-) it. A panel's average and median are taken over those per-card figures. The August edition counted Best Buy, Newegg, Micro Center, B&H Photo, Adorama, Antonline, CDW and eBay.

What is excluded. Out-of-stock and not-carried listings are excluded in every edition. July also excluded refurbished and discontinued listings, and August added backordered ones. From August, a priced row under a third of its peer median for the same card is treated as a different product and dropped, not counted as a deal.

Amazon. Amazon listings are excluded from every figure from the August 2026 edition onward. Showing an Amazon price requires re-verifying it within a short window, which a dated monthly report cannot do, so the index drops Amazon rows before any average is taken, using the same shared code as GPU Drip's product pages. Earlier editions did not state a rule on Amazon.

Checked dates. Every price in the tracker carries the date its retailer row was last checked. The August edition prints that date per row and builds its averages only from rows re-checked inside the sweep window, August 5 to 20, 2026.

Re-checked cards only (August). In August only 27 of the 55 tracked cards had their cheapest in-stock row re-checked. The other 28 still carried July 2 and 3 captures, so a blended catalog average would have reprinted July's prices as August's (it would have read +7.7%, pulled down purely by the age of the data). August's aggregates therefore cover the 27 re-checked cards and the priority panel inside them, and no catalog figure was published.

New editions. An edition is published only after a full retailer re-check, so the gap between editions reflects when prices were last swept. Older editions are kept unchanged as dated snapshots.
